Father Mine: Zsadist and Bella's Story (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6.5)

Father Mine: Zsadist and Bella's Story (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6.5) - J.R. Ward Father Mine is a great novella that shows how the Brothers go on, even when we are not there to watch! In this novella, we see the ways that Zsadist and Bella have been adjusting to the surprise of becoming parents. Despite all the wonderful things that Bella has brought into Z's life, even Bella knows that Z will never be fully healed or fully saved. Unfortunately, the one person that can bring all of Z's fears back to the forefront is the one other female that he will ever love besides Bella. As Z watches his little girl begin to grow, his greatest fear is that his past and his torments will pass on to her. He feels the scars of his past are too much for a young female to have to bear in a father and his decision is to spare her by detaching from her.

Although Bella knows that it is Z's past that is preventing his relationship with his daughter from growing, Bella doesn't feel that the reasons matter all that much anymore. Her first concern is for her little girl. She doesn't want Bella to grow up with a father who doesn't want anything to do with her, which is how Nalla will perceive Z's distance. So Bella makes the monumental decision to sacrifice her own happiness for Nalla's and plans to leave (gasp!) Z.
