The Window Seat on a Rainy Day

I will admit, the only reason that I started reading this series was that it was endorsed by J.R. Ward (of the Black Dagger Brotherhood). But I am so glad that I followed that recommendation. This series is unique to anything that I have ever read and I love it. The whole series centers around the events that are predicted to come to pass at the End Time. According to the Mayan calendar, the End Time is the date that the world will erupt in some sort of apocalypse and life as we know it will end. Fortunately for all of us, the Night Keepers, an ancient magical race, will protect us from such a thing happening ('cuz, if the world ends before I read Qhuay... I will be VERY angry! :))

Leah Daniels is a detective on the Miami Police Force. Ever since her brother Matty's murder, she has been hot on the trail of the Survivor 2012 crew. They are a cult like group that Leah is convinced is responsible for her brother's death. When meeting with an informant that will help her to catch the bad guys, Leah is kidnapped and forced to watch her partner's death. Next thing Leah knows, she is on a stone altar about to be sacrificed.
