Ashes of Midnight (The Midnight Breed, Book 6)

Ashes of Midnight (The Midnight Breed, Book 6) - Lara Adrian On this second time through the series with Aimee, I decided to listen to this book instead of read it. I fell in love with audio books a little over a year ago, and have been hooked ever since! {You are welcome, Terree!! :)} Of course I have my favorite narrators, but I like to branch out and give everyone a chance, otherwise how will I ever find a new favorite? Could Narrators be like genres in a way? I don’t want to get stuck in a rut, I have so many different genres that I love for different moods. It should be the same for narrators, right?

I went into this audio with a total open mind. I listened to the sample and heard a snippet of Hillary’s voice and was pleased that she sounded deep enough for the male voices and fairly high enough for the female voices. The challenge arose with the accents and pronunciation of names. Now I will give her credit if the pronunciation of a German male name was given to her as a female version… but it was unnerving! Then it seemed that part of the way through the book it changed to the correct, male version (Andreas) … but then, of course, back again to a female version. She also had trouble when she would be in character then switching to the narrator voice, well, sometimes she would just stay in the character’s voice. I know it sounds like a nit picky thing, but when you’ve listened to the best, you expect it from the rest!
