The Darkest Whisper (Lords of the Underworld)

The Darkest Whisper - Gena Showalter For a few days, the song Careless Whisper by Wham! was going through my head - and quite frankly, driving me insane. I couldn't figure out why I had this song in my head, I just knew that I hated it and wanted it gone. It took a few days to make the connection that the reason it was there was because I was reading this book. Now, having that inane song going through my head for days and realizing it was this book's fault could result in me taking it out on the book. Fortunately, the story was well worth the inconvenience and annoyance.

Sabin is the truest warrior of the Lords of the Underworld. Sabin is the Keeper of the demon Doubt, but he is really the army's leader - the strategist. Even more so that Strider - the Keeper of Defeat - he wants to win the war against the Hunters. For him - it is personal. Not only does he want vengeance for his fellow Lord, Baden, Keeper of Distrust, but he once loved the wife of the human leader of the Hunters. She was a tormented woman who spied for him until she committed suicide, but Sabin blames himself for her death. His demon fills people with self doubt and it was likely torment from Doubt that led to her suicide.
