Blood Lust Rising (The Vampire Queen Trilogy, #1)

Blood Lust Rising (The Vampire Queen Trilogy, #1) - Fayth Devlin
Ok, this review is going to be a little rocky, but bear with me - I promise all end's well! :) First off, I have three major pet peeves with books. The first is when the author using a Big Misunderstanding as the major plot device. To me, this pet peeve is something that is the author's fault. It shows poor plot development. Now, my other two pet peeves are my problem and does not in any way indicate a problem with the author. They are just things that I dislike. I don't like first person point of view writing and I don't like it when the back story is parceled out throughout the whole book. The first person POV annoys me because we only get one side of the story, while the parceling out makes me feel like I am constantly confused and missing things. So, with that being said, here is the bad news. Blood Lust Rising had two of my major pet peeves. The first person POV and the parceling out of the back story. The good news is that first, neither of these things are the author's fault. They are merely my issues and it can make it hard for me to get into a book that has either of them. Second, despite this, I read Blood Lust Rising in a day! There was no putting it down and struggling to get back into it. I flew through the thing!

Ella is a half breed vampire who is part of an agency which hunts vampires and demons and protects humans from the two supernatural forces. Micah is her partner and the two have a very tempestuous relationship. Actually, they seem to truly dislike one another. But one night on patrol, they are confronted by a succubus and everything changes. Apparently, Micah is a demon and the two have claimed each other in a demon mating ceremony. Separating can be deadly for them both.
