Eirik is a dragon shifter and a prince responsible for the safety of his people. As leader, he is forced to make a brutal decision. He needs to give up his leadership in order to save his people. Because of a terrible mistake he made as a young dragon that resulted in the death of two wolves, but saved his cousin's life, Eirik feels that this sacrifice is the least he can do. He needs his people to separate and to become a part of the clans of shifters throughout the Highlands. Eirik and a third of his people go to the Clan Sinclair where Eirik will submit to the leadership of his friend Talorc, but still be the prince his people need.
